Abstract

Background: Staphylococcus lugdunensis is a coagulase-negative staphylococcus that causes severe infections and has rarely been described as causing otitis in the pediatric population. Case report: an eight-year-old patient, operated on at birth for congenital heart disease, presented a whitish discharge in the right auditory canal, resulting in a culture of otitis due to Staphylococcus lugdunensis, with good evolution after treatment with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid. Pediatricians need to know about this germ for proper management and treatment since it can cause serious infections.
