Abstract

Primary eye and ocular adnexa lymphomas represent 1.5% of non-Hodgkin lymphomas in the Anglo-Saxon population. One of its histological types, orbital Burkitt's lymphoma, is a very unusual condition. We present a case report of a 3 years old female patient with a mass at the height of her lower left eyelid associated with proptosis, with 15 days of evolution, to whom an orbital nuclear magnetic resonance was practiced, confirming neoproliferative processes. Later the patient was submitted to a surgical resection. Immunohistochemical studies confirmed the diagnosis of Burkitt's lymphoma. The importance of this case report lies in that it shows that this ailment must be taken in account among the different possible differential diagnosis when orbital masses appear.
